Recipe: Ginger Slices (Pre-digestive)
15-minutes before a meal, you want to prep the stomach to receive food by taking a pre-digestive, aka digestive churna, with 4-8 oz of warm water. Getting into this practice will help reduce acid reflux, gas and bloating because it encourages the body to produce digestive enzymes and saliva. Saliva contains salivary amylase and lipase which are necessary for breaking down carbohydrates and fats. The ginger is a heating root that when soaked with lime juice and pink Himalayan

Recipe: Grated Beets (Cleanse)
Every day of the pre-cleanse (days 1-4) and post-cleanse (days 9-12) you'll be eating some raw, fresh grated beets. If you have a vata accumulation or are cleansing in a cold weather climate, you can lightly boil the beets to reduce getting to much of the air element.

Recipe: Gluten-free Zucchini Pancakes
These are a super tasty snack or side dish that kids love because they make a great finger food. I like that you can change the flavor profile by simply changing up the spices or adding a sauce. To make this cleanse friendly, omit paprika, onions & garlic and verify that your flour contains no nuts. For seasoning, try cumin, oregano and some ground mustard instead. Or give them a mediterranean flavor with parsley, oregano, basil and rosemary.

Recipe: Rainbow Spring Rolls
I'm sure you've heard people say that you need a variety of vegetables in your diet. Perhaps you've also heard the phrase, 'eat the rainbow' which describes the concept of getting phytonutrients and polyphenols by eating fruits and vegetables from each color of the rainbow. In this recipe, I embrace the 6 tastes and the rainbow all wrapped up in a wonderful finger food. This recipe is Ella-approved (her words), "Oh! I love these!" To make this recipe cleanse-friendly, omit C

Always a favorite in our family and a one-skillet meal makes clean up speedy quick! This is a great meal for nights when you don't have a lot of time or perhaps you're feeling a little tired - from start to finish it's about 30-40 minutes.

Recipe: Cleanse-friendly Red Lentil Curry
Days 1-4 and 9-12 of the Spring & Autumn Ayurveda cleanse are packed full of food! I usually have a hearty breakfast of sweet potato hash, steel cut oats, chia seed pudding or breakfast rice, and then have a Bieler's broth and optional whole grain for lunch. For dinner, I incorporate a plant-based protein with veggies and a whole grain. It's A LOT of food to consume in a day for me... for Richard, not so much. :)

Recipe: Steel Cut Oats (Spring)
I've had several of my cleansers ask for this, but the truth is I rarely write down my recipes - much to my family's disappointment. I cook based on taste and sprinkle in a little of this or that depending on how I feel or the season. Steel cut oats are no exception. Every season is just a little different.

Recipe: Tart Cherry Berries (Spring)
This is a family favorite! I love this recipe because of the versatility. Although berries are traditionally associated with summertime and make their appearance May - August (depending on climate), they are sold and available year-round in the grocery store making this recipe easy to modify with the seasons. I love changing the profile and flavors using spices and culinary herbs to promote a heating or cooling affect on digestion.

Recipe: Spring Applesauce
I just prepared loads of food for the people getting ready to do the 12-Day Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse 2024, and one of the staples in my success kit for them is homemade applesauce. Apples are a wonderful fruit loaded with Vitamins A, C and B and minerals such as calcium, iron & phosphorous. They also have a lot of soluble fiber in the form of pectin.
